What is a Proxy Rotation Interval?
A proxy rotation interval is the configurable time period between automatic IP changes in a rotating proxy setup. Intervals can range from per-request rotation (every single request gets a new IP) to extended periods of 30 minutes or more, depending on the use case requirements.
Configuring Rotation Timing
The rotation interval is set at the gateway level and determines how long a particular IP is assigned to a user's session before being swapped. Per-request rotation assigns a new IP for every outgoing request, providing maximum distribution. Time-based intervals (e.g., every 5, 10, or 30 minutes) maintain IP consistency for a period before rotating. The interval is configured through API parameters, gateway port selection, or dashboard settings. Smart rotation systems can also trigger rotation on detection of blocks or CAPTCHAs.
With Hex Proxies, you control the interval through your session configuration on gate.hexproxies.com:8080. Setting no session ID triggers per-request rotation. Setting a session ID with a 10-minute TTL keeps the same IP for 10 minutes of requests before automatically assigning a fresh one.
Balancing Distribution and Continuity
Choosing the right rotation interval is crucial for balancing anonymity with session continuity. Aggressive rotation (per-request) maximizes IP diversity but breaks sessions. Longer intervals maintain sessions but increase per-IP request counts. Hex Proxies offers fully configurable rotation intervals, allowing users to fine-tune the balance for their specific use case.
