Bandwidth That Scales With Your Business
Bandwidth limitations are the hidden cost of most proxy services. A provider might advertise low prices per IP but then charge per GB, throttle speeds after a threshold, or impose soft caps that degrade performance. Hex Proxies takes a transparent approach: ISP and datacenter proxy plans include truly unlimited bandwidth, and residential plans use clear per-GB pricing with volume discounts.
Unlimited Bandwidth on ISP and Datacenter Plans
When we say unlimited, we mean unlimited. There are no soft caps, no fair use policies that throttle you after a certain threshold, and no overage charges. If your ISP proxy plan includes 50 IPs, you can push as much traffic through those IPs as the network can handle. We do not meter bandwidth on ISP or datacenter plans.
This is possible because we own the infrastructure. Our ISP proxies run on servers we control with 10 Gbps uplinks. We do not pay a third party per-GB for transit, so there is no incentive to throttle or cap your usage. Our costs scale with infrastructure, not with traffic volume, and we size our infrastructure with 40 percent headroom to ensure consistent performance regardless of aggregate usage.
How Our Backbone Is Built
The Hex Proxies backbone consists of 10 Gbps links between our gateway servers, routing nodes, and egress infrastructure. Each link is provisioned with at least 40 percent headroom, meaning we only use 60 percent of available capacity during normal operations. This headroom absorbs traffic spikes without degrading performance for any customer.
We peer directly with major content delivery networks and cloud providers, which means traffic to popular targets does not traverse congested public peering exchanges. Direct peering reduces latency and increases effective throughput compared to providers who rely on transit providers for all traffic.
Residential Bandwidth Pricing
Residential proxies use a different bandwidth model because the underlying infrastructure is different. Residential IPs are consumer connections with limited bandwidth, and we compensate IP providers based on traffic volume. Accordingly, residential proxy pricing includes a per-GB component.
Our residential bandwidth rates are competitive and decrease with volume. Entry-level plans start at market-competitive per-GB rates, and enterprise customers negotiate custom rates based on monthly volume commitments. There are no minimum usage requirements and no penalties for low-usage months.
All residential bandwidth usage is tracked in real time and displayed in your dashboard. You can set usage alerts to notify you when consumption reaches configurable thresholds, helping you manage costs proactively.
No Throttling Policy
We do not throttle any customer's traffic under any circumstances. If your application can push 100 Mbps through a single proxy connection, it will get 100 Mbps. If you run 1,000 concurrent connections, each gets the full available bandwidth of its assigned IP.
Some providers implement "fair use" throttling that silently reduces speeds for heavy users. We consider this a broken promise. Our infrastructure is sized to handle peak load from all customers simultaneously, and we add capacity proactively when utilization trends upward.
Monitoring Your Usage
Even on unlimited plans, visibility into bandwidth usage helps you optimize your operations. Our dashboard shows real-time and historical bandwidth metrics broken down by proxy type, region, and time period. You can see throughput per IP, aggregate usage trends, and peak usage periods.
For residential plans with per-GB pricing, the dashboard shows current-period consumption, projected monthly usage based on current patterns, and cost estimates. Usage data updates every 60 seconds.
Burst Handling
Our infrastructure handles traffic bursts gracefully. If your application suddenly increases request volume by 10x (for example, during a flash sale monitoring event), the network accommodates the burst without queueing, dropping, or throttling requests. This burst handling capability is a direct benefit of maintaining 40 percent headroom on all network links.
Enterprise Bandwidth
For customers with extreme bandwidth requirements (consistently above 1 Gbps aggregate), we offer dedicated infrastructure options with custom backbone provisioning. Contact our enterprise team for dedicated capacity planning and guaranteed bandwidth reservations.
